BMW 525D - Power Optimiser

Jason Says... Prior to researching and finding Rapid Remap on the internet I had purchased an off the shelf ‘Diesel Tuning Box’. Long story short, but on fitting the tuning box there were no performance benefits and the engine management lights on the car lit up like a Christmas tree, needless to say the box went back to the supplier for a refund.
 
It was after this episode that I contacted Mike at Rapid Remap and Mike explained the difference between a tuning box and a custom ECU remap. No crude devices used for Rapid Remap remaps, just pure quality software engineering. Being an IT Project Manager myself I totally understood the difference.
 
After my conversation with Mike, I decided that I wanted a ‘Rapid-Remap’ – to that end I booked in to get the job done.
 
After arriving at Rapid Remap, it took just over 1 hour to complete the custom remap. Now for the road test with Mike before I pay, to ensure I’m 100% happy.
 
Wow, what a surprise, a smile appears across my face. From the get go the car is smoother, more throttle responsive and guess what, oodles more power both in terms of BHP and more importantly for turbo diesels the mid range torque (the latter being due to the lifting of torque restrictions in the old engine management software). A truly stunning transformation from just software, it now feels like a 530D!

The BMW is a pretty refined engine anyway but this remap has enhanced it further. Power is delivered more smoothly and with relentless progression up through the rev range. Mid range pulling power can now only be described as awesome, 70-90 in 5th is mind blowing, in 6th gear – well go figure, it’s the same!
 
My wife was so impressed with the cars new overtaking ability, and the added safety and assurance that brings, that she asked if her car (Golf 2.0 TDI) could have a rapid remap as well!!
 
To top it all, all this additional power is not affecting my MPG, I suspect when I finally stop using the power on tap so often it will actually improve!
 
After 6 weeks I still have a massive smile on my face and consider this best money I have spent on a car of mine in a long time, a big thanks Mike J
