Very impressed, this car is already reasonably quick and I tend not to drive it much past 4000 revs most of the time, but I was keen to improve the fuel economy as I was only getting around 26-27mpg.

I turned up at the agreed time with my dad (who also had his Saab done) and my brother, who had come along for the ride.

After a brief chat about what we were trying to achieve, we handed over our car keys and Mike sent us across the road for a free bacon butty and cup of tea each, while he made a start on the remapping.

Mike had indicated an improvement of approx 5-10% in mpg, and explained that had it been a turbo diesel instead of a normally aspirated petrol, the estimated gains would have been 10-20%.

Having driven the car for a while now, I have found that I am actually getting around 3-4 mpg better than before, and without any change in driving style.

Although my main goal was improved MPG I have also found that there has been a good increase in power and smoothness of power delivery
